An Art Nouveau Copper Tea Caddy
This striking tea caddy, dating to around 1900, is a fine example of Art Nouveau design by Joseph Sankey and Sons. Crafted from copper, it features embossed floral motifs characteristic of the period. The caddy’s form is both functional and decorative, intended to keep tea leaves fresh while adding a touch of elegance to the home. This particular model is a 4oz capacity caddy, showcasing the quality craftsmanship of Sankey and Sons.
Condition and Collectibility
This copper tea caddy presents with the patina expected of an antique item of this age. While showing signs of wear consistent with age and use, it remains a visually appealing and collectible piece. The embossed details are still clearly visible, and the caddy retains its original charm. This caddy would be a welcome addition to a collection of antique copperware or Art Nouveau objects, and is sure to appeal to enthusiasts of decorative tea storage.
