Leeds Pottery Pot Pourri

This is a beautifully crafted pot pourri jar from Leeds Pottery, likely dating to the Victorian era. The piece is made of creamware, a type of earthenware known for its smooth, ivory-coloured glaze. The jar features a pierced, dome-shaped lid adorned with heart and diamond-shaped cut-outs, allowing the fragrance of potpourri to gently diffuse. It stands on a decorative pedestal base, adding to its elegant aesthetic. The piece is marked “Hartley Greens Leeds Pottery” on the base.

Condition and Collectibility

This antique Leeds Pottery pot pourri jar presents well, with expected signs of age and wear consistent with its vintage. There are no significant chips or cracks, though minor crazing to the glaze is present, adding to its character. This piece would be a desirable addition to a collection of antique ceramics, particularly those focused on Victorian decorative arts. Its delicate pierced design and classic creamware finish make it a charming and visually appealing display piece.
