Ridgway’s Macmillan & Co Coaching Days Tankards
This lot comprises a collection of Ridgway’s Macmillan & Co tankards, a bowl, and a pitcher, all decorated with scenes from coaching days and coaching ways. The pieces feature detailed transfer-printed depictions of 19th-century coaching inns, stagecoaches, and landscapes, typical of the Victorian era. The tankards, bowl and pitcher are crafted from earthenware and showcase the quality associated with Staffordshire pottery production.
Condition and Collectibility
The pieces exhibit signs of age and use, with some minor wear to the glaze and potential for small imperfections consistent with their age. These pieces are sought after by collectors of British pottery, particularly those interested in historical coaching scenes and the work of Ridgway’s Macmillan & Co. The collection offers a charming glimpse into a bygone era and would be a valuable addition to any collection of antique ceramics.
