Introduction

This is a small, intricately carved teak wood temple cabinet, likely originating from India. The cabinet features a stepped roof design, a central niche for housing deities, and a pair of doors with delicate detailing. Below the doors are two small drawers, providing storage space. The cabinet’s construction suggests it was designed as a portable shrine or altar for personal devotion.

Condition

This cabinet shows signs of age and use, with some wear and patina to the wood. The doors and drawers may not close perfectly flush, and there may be minor imperfections in the carving. Despite these points, the cabinet retains its charm and character, and would be of interest to collectors of religious artifacts, Indian art, or devotional objects. It presents a unique opportunity to own a piece of cultural heritage.
