Antique Chatelaine Pencils

This lot comprises three antique chatelaine pencils, each exhibiting gilded finishes. The largest pencil features intricate detailing and a substantial form, while the two smaller examples are more delicate in their construction. Chatelaine pencils were popular accessories during the 18th and 19th centuries, designed to be suspended from a chatelaine—a decorative belt hook—allowing for convenient carrying of writing implements. These examples showcase the craftsmanship and elegance of the period, reflecting a time when personal accessories were both functional and ornamental.
