Victoria Old Head Silver Crown
This is a silver crown dating from 1893, during the reign of Queen Victoria. The coin features the ‘Old Head’ portrait of Queen Victoria, a design used during the later years of her reign. The obverse displays the Queen in profile, with the inscription “VICTORIA DEI: GRA: BRITT: REGINA FIDEI DEF.” (Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of Great Britain, Defender of the Faith). The reverse depicts a design emblematic of the United Kingdom.
Condition and Collectibility
This silver crown shows signs of age and circulation, consistent with its age. The coin displays wear to the high points of the design, and some surface toning. Despite this, it remains a desirable piece for collectors of British coinage, particularly those interested in Victorian-era silver crowns.
