Rare 1566 Great Bible Page
This is a genuine leaf from a 1566 edition of the Great Bible, a landmark achievement in English printing and religious history. Printed in folio format, this page showcases the distinctive typography and layout characteristic of the period. The text is in blackletter type, a style prevalent in early English printing, and the page likely formed part of a complete Bible intended for church or institutional use. The page exhibits the solemnity and authority expected of a sacred text from this era.
Condition and Collectibility
The page shows signs of age and handling consistent with its nearly 500-year history, including some foxing and minor edge wear. Despite these imperfections, the text remains largely legible and the page retains its historical integrity. This leaf represents a tangible connection to the Reformation and the development of the English language, making it a desirable item for collectors of religious texts, historical documents, and early printed books.
