Victorian Parian Ware Jug
This is a beautifully detailed Victorian Parian ware jug, likely dating from the mid-19th century. The jug features intricate relief decoration, depicting a scene with floral motifs and possibly cherubic figures. The creamy white Parian ware material was popular for replicating marble and other expensive materials, and this example showcases the skill of the potter in creating a delicate and refined piece. The jug is attributed to William Bloomfield, known for his Cashmere jug designs, and exemplifies the aesthetic preferences of the Victorian era.
Condition and Collectibility
This Parian ware jug shows signs of age and wear consistent with its antique status. There may be minor crazing to the glaze, small chips, or imperfections, which are typical for pieces of this age and add to its character. Collectors will appreciate the quality of the craftsmanship, the rarity of Parian ware, and the association with William Bloomfield. This jug would be a desirable addition to a collection of Victorian ceramics or a beautiful decorative piece for a discerning collector.
