Victorian Religious Jug

This is a large antique jug crafted by Charles Meigh in Staffordshire, dating back to the 1840s. The jug is made of soft paste pottery and features intricate relief detailing depicting religious scenes. The design showcases a high level of craftsmanship typical of Victorian-era pottery, and the jug’s size and elaborate decoration suggest it was a display piece or used for special occasions.

Condition and Collectibility

The jug exhibits signs of age and wear consistent with its antique status. There may be minor crazing to the glaze, small chips, or imperfections, which are typical for pieces of this age and add to its character. This jug would be a desirable addition to a collection of Victorian pottery, religious artifacts, or Staffordshire ware, appealing to collectors and enthusiasts of antique ceramics.
