Crestedware Collection Overview
This lot comprises a collection of crestedware, predominantly miniature ceramic items featuring crests and emblems. The collection includes various pieces, such as small jugs, vases, and other decorative objects, likely produced as souvenirs during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The presence of both Gemma and Strand marks suggests a range of manufacturers known for producing these collectible items, catering to the popular tourist trade and commemorative gifting.
Condition and Collectibility
The condition of the crestedware varies, with some pieces exhibiting signs of age and wear, including minor chips, crazing, and fading of the painted details. Despite these imperfections, the collection remains a desirable lot for collectors of British souvenir pottery. The inclusion of pieces from well-known makers like Gemma and Strand adds to their appeal, representing a tangible connection to the history of British tourism and decorative arts.
