Antique Oak Map Chest
This antique chest appears to be constructed from solid oak, exhibiting a robust and functional design. The chest features a lift-off lid and brass handles, suggesting it was originally intended for storing large-format maps, blueprints, or architectural drawings. The simple, utilitarian style points to a practical purpose, likely within a professional setting such as an architect’s office or drafting room.
Condition and Collectibility
The chest shows signs of age and wear, with surface scratches and discoloration consistent with its age. While the interior shows wear, the overall structure appears sound. This chest would appeal to collectors of antique office equipment, architectural memorabilia, or those seeking a unique and characterful storage solution.
