## Vintage Wartime Federation Flour Bags
These are five original calico flour bags from the Co-operative Wholesale Society (CWS) Federation, dating back to the wartime period. The bags are printed with a red design featuring the words “FEDERATION SELF-RAISING FLOUR” and a sailing ship, along with the text “FAMOUS FOR OVER 50 YEARS”. The bags were produced in Manchester, London, Newcastle and Bristol, and are a fascinating piece of social and culinary history, reflecting the rationing and domestic life of the era.
## Collectible Wartime Ephemera
These bags show signs of age and use, with some wear, minor tears, and staining consistent with their age and original purpose. Despite this, they remain remarkably well-preserved and are a genuine example of wartime ephemera. They would be of interest to collectors of vintage advertising, social history, or those interested in the domestic life of the mid-20th century, and would make a unique display piece or addition to a collection.
