Georgian Gaming Tokens
This lot comprises sixteen brass gaming tokens dating from the Georgian period. Each token features a detailed embossed design, likely representing heraldic symbols or allegorical figures, typical of gaming pieces used in 18th-century entertainment. These tokens would have been used as counters in various games of chance or skill, popular amongst the upper classes during this era. The tokens exhibit a warm patina consistent with age and handling.
Condition and Collectibility
The tokens present varying degrees of wear and patina, indicative of their age and use. Some tokens display more pronounced wear to the high points of the design, while others remain in relatively good condition. These tokens are of interest to collectors of antique gaming memorabilia, social history enthusiasts, and those interested in the material culture of the Georgian period. Their historical significance and aesthetic appeal make them a desirable addition to any collection.
