Farsley Omnibus Ticket Machine
This is a Farsley ticket machine, likely used by a bus conductor on an omnibus. The machine features a rotating dial for selecting ticket values, and a lever mechanism for issuing tickets. The metal casing shows signs of use, consistent with a working life in a public transport environment. It is a fascinating example of early 20th-century mechanical engineering, designed for a specific purpose within a bygone era of transport.
Condition and Collectability
The ticket machine presents with a weathered patina, indicative of its age and use. While the mechanism’s functionality is not assessed, it is a visually appealing piece for collectors of transport memorabilia, engineering artefacts, or vintage items. The machine’s originality adds to its appeal, offering a glimpse into the history of public transport and the tools used by those who worked within it.
