Knobkerrie Walking Stick
This antique knobkerrie is a traditional African walking stick, characterised by its distinctive bulbous head. Crafted from a single piece of wood, it exhibits a warm, natural patina indicative of age and use. The knob at the top served not only as a counterweight for walking but also as a potential defensive tool, and the shaft shows signs of being held and used over time. This example is a fascinating piece of ethnographic art, reflecting the cultural heritage of its origin.
Condition and Collectibility
The knobkerrie displays expected wear consistent with its age and use, including minor surface scratches and imperfections. It appears to be largely original, with no obvious signs of significant restoration or repair. This piece would be of interest to collectors of African art, ethnographic objects, or antique walking sticks, offering a tangible connection to a rich cultural tradition.
