Antique Kilner Jars and Storage Case
This lot comprises two antique Kilner jars, housed within a wooden case. The jars are constructed from thick glass, typical of the period, and feature the classic Kilner locking mechanism with a rubber seal. The wooden case appears to have been specifically designed to protect and transport these jars, suggesting a practical purpose, potentially for storing sensitive materials. The construction of the case and the jars point to a Victorian or early 20th-century origin.
Condition and Collectability
The jars and case exhibit signs of age and use, with some minor wear and imperfections consistent with their age. The glass shows some minor surface scratches and the wood case has some wear to the edges. Despite this, the jars remain structurally sound and the case retains its original form. This lot would appeal to collectors of antique glass, storage containers, or those interested in historical tools and containers, particularly given the potential association with gunpowder storage.
