WWI Pilot Portraits by Cecil Jameson

These are two original portraits, likely dating from the First World War period, by artist Cecil Jameson. The works depict a Royal Air Force (RAF) pilot and a German pilot, both rendered in a watercolour and gouache style. The portraits showcase Jameson’s skill in capturing likeness and character, offering a glimpse into the individuals who served during this pivotal moment in history. The subjects are depicted in uniform, providing a clear indication of their roles and affiliations.

Condition and Collectibility

The portraits exhibit signs of age and wear, consistent with their vintage. There is some fading and minor discolouration to the paper, and the frames show wear commensurate with age. Despite this, the artworks remain visually striking and historically significant. These portraits would be of interest to collectors of military memorabilia, aviation art, or First World War ephemera, offering a unique and personal connection to the past.
