Canton Ginger Jars

This striking pair of ginger jars showcases the vibrant and intricate artistry of Cantonware. Crafted from porcelain, these jars feature a rich cobalt blue ground adorned with elaborate hand-painted scenes depicting floral motifs, birds, and figures. The detailed decoration exemplifies the Canton enamel technique, a style renowned for its colourful palette and meticulous craftsmanship. Standing at 38cm tall, these jars are substantial decorative pieces, likely intended for display rather than functional use.

Condition & Collectibility

These ginger jars exhibit signs consistent with age and use, including minor wear to the glaze and potential imperfections in the porcelain. Despite these characteristics, the jars retain their overall visual appeal and remain highly collectible examples of Cantonware. Their size, vibrant colours, and detailed artistry make them desirable pieces for collectors of Asian ceramics and decorative arts, or those seeking unique statement pieces for their home.
