Boer War British Military Jack Knife

This is a robust, folding jack knife, likely issued to British soldiers during the Boer War era. The handle is constructed from a dark material, possibly wood or early plastic, and notably features a carved series of numbers – “R W A 418 763” – presumably a service or regimental number. The blade is a spear point design, showing signs of use and age, and the knife features a simple locking mechanism.

Condition and Collectability

The knife exhibits significant patina and wear consistent with its age and military service. The blade shows signs of sharpening and use, and the handle has some surface wear and minor damage. Despite its condition, this knife is a fascinating piece of military history, offering a tangible connection to the soldiers who served during the Boer War. The presence of the carved service number adds a unique and personal touch, making it a desirable item for collectors of military memorabilia.
