Masonic Past Master Jewel

This is a 9ct gold Past Master’s jewel from the Hortus Lodge No. 2469. The jewel is intricately designed with floral and geometric motifs, featuring tools symbolic of the trade – a level, plumb bob, and square – set against a vibrant blue enamel background. The front displays the lodge number ‘2469’ and is surrounded by the inscription ‘HORTUS LODGE BONI HOMO’. The reverse is engraved with dedications to W.B.s, including J.H.W. Evans P.M. (1952-53) and W.Bro. L.G. Price P.M. (1985-86), acknowledging their service as Worshipful Masters.

Condition and Collectibility

The jewel shows signs of wear consistent with age and use, with some minor surface scratches and patina. The ribbon bar is silver and displays some wear. The jewel is a fascinating piece of Masonic history, representing a lineage of leadership within the Hortus Lodge, established for Covent Garden traders. This item will appeal to collectors of Masonic regalia, particularly those interested in the history of London lodges and the symbolism of freemasonry.
