British Army Jack Knife

This is a British Army jack knife, manufactured by J.H. Thompson of Sheffield and dated 1952. This folding knife features a single blade, a can opener, and a marlinspike, typical of those issued to British soldiers during the mid-20th century. The handle is constructed of steel and shows signs of use consistent with its military purpose. The blade is marked with the instruction “OIL THE JOINTS”.

Condition

This knife exhibits considerable wear and corrosion commensurate with age and use. The blade shows signs of pitting and discoloration, and the handle displays surface rust. Despite its condition, this knife remains a fascinating example of British military equipment from the 1950s and would be of interest to collectors of military memorabilia or vintage tools.
