Georgian Air Twist Wine Glass

This elegant wine glass dates back to approximately 1750, during the Georgian period. It features a delicate, clear glass construction with a characteristic air twist stem – a spiralling bubble encased within the glass itself. This technique was popular during the 18th century and adds a beautiful visual element to the glass. The bowl is relatively small, typical of wine glasses from this era, designed for enjoying fortified wines or lighter beverages.

Condition and Collector’s Interest

This antique wine glass exhibits signs of age and use, including a small chip to the base. Despite this imperfection, it remains a desirable piece for collectors of Georgian glass. The air twist stem is well-defined, and the glass retains its clarity. Such pieces offer a glimpse into the craftsmanship and drinking habits of the 18th century, and are increasingly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors of historical glassware.
