Whitefriars Bubble Glass Pin Dishes
This lot comprises five delightful pin dishes crafted by Whitefriars, renowned for their innovative glasswork during the mid-20th century. These dishes showcase the iconic ‘bubble’ technique, where air bubbles are intentionally trapped within the glass during production, creating a unique and textured aesthetic. The vibrant colours – amber, ruby, and three shades of blue – exemplify the bold colour palettes favoured by Whitefriars designers, and add a touch of retro charm to any setting.
Condition and Collectibility
These dishes present well, with expected minor wear commensurate with age and use. While there are no significant chips or cracks, some minor surface scratches and imperfections may be present, typical of vintage glass. These dishes are highly sought after by collectors of mid-century modern glass, and their playful design makes them ideal for display or functional use. Their enduring appeal lies in the combination of artistic craftsmanship and vibrant colour.
