Auxiliary Fire Service Badge

This is a sterling silver badge for the Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) from the Second World War. The circular badge features the letters ‘AFS’ in red enamel on a white background, surmounted by a King’s Crown. The badge is a buttonhole style, designed to be worn on civilian clothing by members of the AFS, a volunteer organisation crucial to wartime fire defence.

Condition and Collectability

The badge shows signs of age and wear, consistent with its wartime use and age. The silver has a pleasing patina, and the enamel remains largely intact. This original badge would be of interest to collectors of British military history, wartime memorabilia, or badges and insignia.
