Anointing Spoon

This ornate spoon is a gilded example of ecclesiastical silverware, likely crafted as part of a coronation set. The spoon’s design features intricate detailing and a deep bowl, intended to hold the holy oil used during the anointing ceremony. The handle is elegantly shaped and displays a level of craftsmanship indicative of a significant historical or religious purpose.

Condition

This spoon exhibits signs consistent with age and use, including some surface wear and patina. While the gilding remains largely intact, there are areas where it has naturally diminished over time. This piece would be of interest to collectors of religious artifacts, historical silverware, or coronation memorabilia, offering a tangible connection to significant ceremonial traditions.
