Victorian Nurse’s Enquire Within Album
This charming lot comprises a small Victorian CDV (carte de visite) photograph album paired with a miniature copy of “The Nurse’s Enquire Within”. The album features a decorative cover with a floral spray on a dark ground, and retains its original spine, though somewhat fragile. The accompanying book, “The Nurse’s Enquire Within”, is a pocket-sized medical guide, offering advice on ailments and treatments common in the Victorian era. The book’s cover is a pale green cloth, with gilt lettering.
Condition and Collectibility
Both items show signs of age and use, consistent with their Victorian origins. The album’s spine is worn and the pages are lightly foxed, while the book’s cover exhibits some fading and wear. Despite these imperfections, the album and book remain a fascinating glimpse into Victorian medical practices and photographic collecting habits. This pairing would appeal to collectors of ephemera, medical history, or Victorian photography.
