Antique Silver Lorgnettes

This lot comprises two pairs of antique lorgnettes, crafted from 925 silver with a combined gross weight of 44.4g. Lorgnettes, popular during the 18th and 19th centuries, were essentially spectacles held to the eyes with a handle. These examples showcase elegant, decorative handles, indicative of the Victorian era’s penchant for ornate design. The frames are delicate and feature circular openings for the lenses, designed to be held in place by the extending handle.

Condition and Collectibility

These lorgnettes present as used antiques, with signs consistent with age and previous use. One lens is missing from one of the pairs. Despite this, the silver retains a lovely patina, and the overall construction appears sound.
