Victorian Staffordshire Spaniels

This pair of Victorian Staffordshire spaniels exemplifies the popular decorative ceramics of the 19th century. Crafted from earthenware and traditionally decorated with a glazed finish, these figurines were commonly displayed in middle-class homes as symbols of status and domesticity. The charming pose and detailed modelling of these spaniels are characteristic of the Staffordshire pottery industry, known for its mass production of affordable yet aesthetically pleasing ornaments.

Condition

These Staffordshire spaniels exhibit signs of age and wear consistent with their antique status. There are minor imperfections, including crazing to the glaze and possible small chips or repairs, which are typical for pieces of this age and add to their character. Despite these minor flaws, the overall form and decorative appeal remain strong, making them desirable pieces for collectors of Victorian ceramics and Staffordshire pottery.
