Antique Le Fesselle Hot Air Balloon Tiles
This set of antique ceramic tiles depicts a historic hot air balloon, known as Le Fesselle. The tiles are hand-painted, showcasing a detailed scene of the balloon ascending with figures in the basket and cherubs above. The vibrant colours and intricate design suggest a high level of craftsmanship, likely dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. These tiles would have originally been part of a larger decorative panel, perhaps adorning a fireplace or wall.
Condition and Collectibility
The tiles exhibit signs of age and wear, consistent with their antique status. There are minor chips and imperfections to the edges, and some fading of the paint, which adds to their character and authenticity. These tiles are highly sought after by collectors of decorative ceramics and historical memorabilia, particularly those interested in the early days of aviation. The rarity and artistic merit of this set make it a desirable addition to any collection.
