Framed Horse Brasses
This is a framed collection of decorative horse brasses, likely dating to the Victorian or early 20th century. These brass ornaments were traditionally attached to horse harnesses, serving both a practical purpose – counterweights to keep the harness in place – and a decorative one, showcasing the owner’s taste and status. The set features a variety of designs, including floral motifs, heraldic emblems, and possibly scenes relating to equestrian life. The brasses are arranged within a simple wooden frame, ready for display.
Condition and Collectibility
The horse brasses appear to be in good condition for their age, with a natural patina consistent with age and use. While some minor wear and tear is to be expected, the details of the designs remain largely visible. This framed set would be of interest to collectors of equestrian memorabilia, Victorian antiques, or decorative brassware. The set offers a glimpse into a bygone era of horse-drawn transport and rural life.
