1914 Mons Star Medal
This is a 1914 Mons Star medal, awarded to officers and men of the British Expeditionary Force who served in France and Belgium between 5 August and 22 November 1914. The star-shaped medal is constructed of bronze and features a central medallion depicting the Royal Cypher, surrounded by a wreath. The ribbon bar is absent. This particular example is named to 2 Lieut: C. Cottrell Dormer S.Gds, indicating service with the South Guards regiment during the early stages of the First World War.
Condition and Collectability
The medal exhibits signs of age and wear consistent with its period of use and likely service history. The bronze has a patina developed over time, and there are minor surface marks and imperfections. Despite this, the naming remains legible, and the overall form of the medal is well-preserved. This medal would be of interest to collectors of British military history, particularly those specialising in First World War awards and decorations, or those with an interest in the South Guards regiment.

#### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
