1930s Royal Mechanical Typewriter
This is a 1930s Royal mechanical typewriter, offered as a vintage office machine. The black-finished body carries the Royal name in gold-coloured lettering to the front and in white lettering on the carriage, and the keys are fitted with cream-coloured keytops bearing black characters. The machine has a platen with a turning knob at the right-hand side, a visible carriage with a paper table, and a ribbon spool cover at the rear. The typebars sit in a semicircular arrangement beneath the carriage, a characteristic layout of mechanical typewriters of the period.
Condition and Collectability
The typewriter shows signs of age and use, including wear to the black finish, scuffing around the base and some discolouration to the keytops. Its original black and gold colour scheme and period detailing remain evident, which will appeal to collectors of early twentieth-century office equipment and to those seeking a decorative piece with a strong vintage character. It is offered as seen, and would suit a collector, a display in a study or office, or a buyer interested in Royal typewriters of the 1930s.
