Trench Art Lighter
This is a fascinating piece of trench art, crafted from a repurposed two-pounder artillery shell dating to 1942. The shell has been skillfully converted into a petrol lighter, featuring a hinged top and a striking mechanism. The brass construction exhibits a warm patina, indicative of age and handling. This unique item is a testament to the ingenuity and resourcefulness of soldiers during wartime, transforming discarded materials into functional and personal objects.
Condition and Collectability
The lighter shows signs of age and use, with some surface wear and minor imperfections to the brass. It has not been tested for functionality and is sold as a collectable item. This piece would appeal to collectors of military memorabilia, trench art, or vintage lighters, offering a tangible link to the history of the Second World War. The conversion of the shell into a lighter demonstrates a remarkable level of craftsmanship and makes this a truly unique and desirable piece.
