60mm Mortar Flare – Overview
This is a 60mm mortar flare, specifically the L5-A2 variant. These flares were designed to provide illumination for tactical operations, typically launched from a 60mm mortar. The body is constructed of steel, and features stabilizing fins at the rear. This particular example exhibits the typical markings and construction methods associated with this type of military illumination device.
Condition and Collectibility
This 60mm mortar flare shows signs of wear consistent with its age and potential use as a training aid. While it is not assessed for functionality, it presents as a genuine example of military surplus. Collectors of military memorabilia, particularly those interested in ordnance and signalling devices, may find this an interesting addition to their collections.
