Anglo Indian Jewellery Casket
This is a beautifully crafted Anglo Indian jewellery casket, likely dating from the Victorian era. The casket features intricate inlaid detailing, predominantly using mother of pearl and other contrasting materials to create a visually striking geometric pattern. The construction suggests skilled craftsmanship, with attention paid to the detailing of the lid and the overall form of the box. It is a fine example of the fusion of Indian artistry with Victorian design sensibilities.
Condition and Collectibility
The casket presents with signs consistent with age and use, including minor imperfections to the inlay and some surface wear. Despite this, the casket remains a visually appealing and structurally sound piece. It would be of interest to collectors of Anglo Indian artefacts, Victorian jewellery boxes, or those with an appreciation for intricate inlaid work. The casket’s unique aesthetic and historical context make it a desirable addition to any collection.
