Antique Books & Ledgers
This lot comprises a fascinating collection of antique books and ledgers. The centerpiece is a 1733 edition of “The Works of Flavius Josephus,” translated by Roger L’Estrange. This substantial volume features detailed maps and illustrations, offering a glimpse into historical cartography and printing techniques. Accompanying this are two antique cash journals, likely dating from the 19th century, providing a tangible connection to historical financial record-keeping.
Condition & Collectibility
The books and ledgers exhibit signs of age and wear consistent with their antiquity. The Flavius Josephus volume shows considerable wear to the binding, with some pages detached and foxing throughout. The cash journals are similarly aged, with worn covers and faded writing. Despite their condition, these items hold significant appeal for collectors of historical books, accounting memorabilia, and early printed materials. The combination of a rare edition and practical ledgers offers a unique insight into the past.
