Antique 1913 Box Kite
This is a remarkably preserved example of an early 20th-century box kite, dating to 1913, pre-World War I. Constructed from a patterned fabric, likely a durable cotton or linen, the kite features a classic box shape, designed for stability and lift. The frame appears to be constructed from lightweight wood, and remnants of the original bridle and tail are still present, offering insight into its original flying configuration.
Condition and Collectibility
The kite exhibits significant signs of age and wear, consistent with its over century-old history. The fabric shows fading, staining, and some minor tears, but the overall structure remains largely intact. This level of patina adds to its authenticity and appeal for collectors of early aviation memorabilia, vintage toys, and historical textiles. It represents a fascinating glimpse into the early days of flight and kite-making.
