Antique Brass Bulldog Vesta Case
This charming vesta case is crafted in the form of a seated bulldog, cast in solid brass. The detail is well-defined, capturing the characteristic wrinkles and determined expression of the breed. The head lifts to reveal a compartment designed to hold matches or vestas, a popular accessory for gentlemen in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The piece exhibits a lovely patina, indicative of age and careful handling.
Condition and Collectibility
The vesta case shows signs of age and use, with some minor wear to the brass surface, which adds to its character. It appears to be structurally sound, with the head lifting and closing as intended. This piece would appeal to collectors of brassware, dog-related memorabilia, or vintage smoking accessories. It’s a unique and decorative item that would add a touch of historical charm to any collection or desk.
