Description

This is an antique late-19th-century carved oak chair, closely resembling pieces made by Barber & Son of Birmingham. The chair features a beautifully carved backrest with a prominent green man relief, a motif popular in Victorian and Arts & Crafts design. The seat and back are upholstered in a patterned fabric, and the chair is supported by turned legs and stretchers, adding to its sturdy construction and classic aesthetic.

Condition

This chair exhibits signs of age and use, consistent with its antique status. The upholstery shows wear and fading, and the wood may have minor imperfections or surface scratches. Despite these characteristics, the chair remains structurally sound and presents a desirable appearance for collectors of Victorian furniture or those seeking a unique and characterful piece for their home.
