Antique Cobbler’s Shoe Lasts
This lot comprises three antique cobbler’s shoe lasts, each shaped as a foot form for the making and repair of footwear. The two lasts on the left and right are metal foot forms, the left example with an upright tapering spike and the right example with a cylindrical fixing at its upper end. The central item has a turned, light-coloured wooden handle, joined to a dark metal foot-shaped head. Makers’ marks are not evident on the items offered in this lot.
Condition and Originality
The lasts show clear signs of age and use, including surface wear, pitting and areas of corrosion, most noticeable on the central head. The wooden handle displays scuffing, colour variation and a visible split along its length. The items are offered as found and have not been restored, and no further details of their condition can be given beyond what is visible. Antique lasts of this kind are of interest to collectors of trade tools, cobbling history and vintage workshop equipment, and the group presents the three forms together as a single lot.
