Antique Continental Silver Snuff or Pill Box with Maritime Decoration
This antique continental silver snuff or pill box is a small round box with a domed lid, decorated on the top with an embossed armorial design. The central shield features a ship at sea, surmounted by a crown and set within a border of stylised foliage. A scroll banner beneath the shield bears the motto “allwats loyal”, which reinforces the maritime theme. The box is catalogued as likely Spanish and dating from the 18th or 19th century. Marks are struck to the base, which is plain and lightly scratched.
Antique Silver Box in Used Antique Condition
This box shows general wear consistent with its age, including fine scratches and light surface marking across the lid and base. The embossed decoration remains clear and well defined, and no major dents or losses are evident. The piece retains its original silver finish, with the maritime motif and motto still legible. Its combination of a nautical theme, a crowned armorial and early continental origin makes it of interest to collectors of small silver boxes, snuff and pill boxes, and maritime antiques.

We have a viewing day on Saturday 10am-3pm if you are unsure about an item from photos. #### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
