Antique Framed Robert Burns With Every Good Wish Silk Bookmark
This lot offers an antique silk bookmark bearing the sentiment “With Every Good Wish”, presented in a dark frame with a gold beaded inner edge. The woven panel is set within a green-bordered cream mount and features a portrait of Robert Burns, the Scottish poet, at its centre. Beneath the portrait are a sprig of thistles and wheat, and a rider on horseback, while the upper section carries a verse from Auld Lang Syne credited to Burns. The combination of Scottish emblems and a literary verse makes this a characterful piece of Burns memorabilia.
Condition and Collector Appeal
The bookmark is presented as an antique item and shows the wear expected of its age, with some visible marking to the frame finish. Please inspect the lot carefully using the images supplied before bidding, as the condition is described as seen and no further restoration or verification has been carried out. Items of this kind, combining Burns imagery, Scottish symbolism and a decorative silk bookmark, appeal to collectors of Scottish literary ephemera and to buyers looking for a framed Burns keepsake for display.
