Antique Hand Painted French Lustre Ware Perfume Bottle
This antique hand painted French lustre ware perfume bottle is a round, flat-sided scent bottle fitted with a stopper. It is offered as a collectable piece of decorative vanity ware with a hand painted scene to the front.
The front is decorated with a hand painted courting scene in a pastel palette. A gentleman in a pink coat and blue-green breeches bows towards a lady in a gold bodice and a floral skirt, who holds a fan. The reverse is plain and carries an iridescent lustre glaze that shifts in colour as it catches the light. The body is ceramic and sits beneath a metal collar, topped with a stopper of clear glass.
