Barometer and Brush Set
This antique hall barometer features a circular dial with a Fahrenheit scale, indicating weather conditions from ‘Change’ to ‘Fair’. The barometer is housed within a dark wood case, likely mahogany or a similar hardwood, with a decorative pediment. Included with the barometer is a set of brushes, traditionally used for hat or coat maintenance, and housed within the base of the barometer cabinet. This combination of functionality and decorative appeal was common in Victorian-era hallways, providing both practical weather information and a touch of elegance.
Condition
The barometer and brush set exhibits signs of age and use, consistent with its antique status. The wood case shows some wear and patina, and the dial glass may have minor scratches or imperfections. While the brushes are present, their condition should be assessed closely. This piece would appeal to collectors of antique scientific instruments, Victorian hall decor, or those seeking a unique and characterful addition to their home.
