A Detailed County Map
This is a hand-coloured map of Kent, produced by Bowles & Parker. The map depicts the county’s geography, towns, and notable landmarks with intricate detail. The cartography is typical of 18th-century English mapmaking, featuring a decorative cartouche and a scale of miles. It is presented within a later frame, enhancing its display potential.
Condition and Collector Appeal
The map exhibits signs consistent with age, including some foxing and minor paper loss, which is typical for a map of this period. The hand-colouring remains vibrant in many areas, adding to its visual appeal. This map would be of interest to collectors of topographical maps, local history enthusiasts, and those seeking a decorative antique piece with historical significance.
