Antique Mercury Wall Barometer
This antique mercury wall barometer features a beautifully carved oak case, typical of Victorian-era craftsmanship. The barometer displays both Fahrenheit and Celsius scales, and the design incorporates ornate detailing around the dial and case. This piece would have been a functional and decorative element in a home, used to predict weather changes based on atmospheric pressure.
Condition & Collectibility
This barometer shows signs consistent with age and use, including wear to the carving and possible oxidation of the mercury. While the functionality is not assessed, this piece presents a desirable aesthetic for collectors of antique scientific instruments or Victorian home decor. The carved oak case and classic design make it a visually appealing addition to any room, and its historical significance adds to its value.
