Antique Metal Toleware Hat Box
This antique metal toleware hat box is an oval storage piece with a fitted lid and a metal carrying handle on the top. It is offered as a decorative and collectable example of early metal storage.
The box has an oval body with a lid that sits over the rim. A rounded metal handle is fixed to the centre of the lid, and a front latch plate with a keyhole is mounted on the side. The exterior has a warm brown, rust-toned surface, and the interior is finished in a pale blue paint. No maker’s name or marks are visible.
Condition and Collector Interest
The exterior shows overall rust and surface wear, with patches of discolouration and scuffing to the sides and lid. The interior blue finish is worn, with areas of flaking and small patches of bare metal. No obvious restoration is evident, and the surface appears to retain its age-related finish.
Its untouched patina and original interior colouring may appeal to collectors of antique toleware, vintage metalware and rustic storage pieces. It would suit those looking for a characterful period container for display or decorative use.

#### As of 1/10/2021 we will be implementing a 7 day collection rule – items must be collected within 7 days unless an agreement is arranged in the event of instances such as being away on holiday, medical reasons etc. Any lots that are not collected within 7 days will be liable to a storage charge of £1.20 per day.
