Antique Japanese Satsuma Plate

This exquisite plate is a beautiful example of antique Japanese Satsuma ware, likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The plate features a hand-painted scene depicting geishas in a garden setting, rendered with intricate detail and vibrant colours. The plate is further embellished with rich gold accents, characteristic of Satsuma pottery, and is signed on the base.

Condition and Collectibility

The plate exhibits signs of age and wear consistent with its antique status, including minor surface scratches and possible crazing to the glaze. Despite these imperfections, the plate remains a visually stunning and highly collectible piece of Japanese art. Its intricate design, vibrant colours, and historical significance make it a desirable addition to any collection of Asian ceramics or antique porcelain.
