Antique Brass Ships Compass

This antique ships compass is a beautifully crafted nautical instrument, likely dating from the early to mid 20th century. Constructed from solid brass, it features a gimbal mount allowing it to remain level regardless of the ship’s motion. The compass rose is clearly marked with cardinal directions and degree markings, and the glass cover protects the delicate mechanism within. This compass would have been an essential tool for navigation at sea, guiding vessels safely across the oceans.

Condition and Collectibility

This compass exhibits signs of age and use, with some patina and wear to the brass finish, consistent with its age and maritime history. The gimbal mechanism appears to be intact, though functionality is not assessed. This piece would be a desirable addition to a collection of nautical antiques, maritime instruments, or brass collectibles, appealing to enthusiasts and collectors alike.
