Historical Bank of England Ventilation Cover

This substantial cast iron ventilation cover originates from the Bank of England building, removed during modernisation works. The intricate design features a radial pattern of robust bars, providing both airflow and security. Its substantial weight and quality of manufacture suggest a Victorian or Edwardian origin, indicative of the building’s original construction and the high standards of engineering employed at the time. This cover would have formed part of a larger ventilation system, regulating air flow within the historic building.

Condition and Collectibility

The cover exhibits signs of age and use, with surface corrosion and accumulated grime consistent with its historical context and removal from a working environment. Despite this, the structural integrity remains sound, and the design is clearly visible. This piece represents a unique opportunity to acquire a tangible piece of British history and architectural heritage, appealing to collectors of industrial antiques, architectural salvage, and memorabilia related to the Bank of England.
